Connected services’ governance diagnosis

PROJECT OUTLINE

  • The growth of embedded software in the automotive industry requires a significant and growing investment in the development of connected services.
  • Uncertainties in the governance of connected services are leading to significant delays in the development of current projects: a diagnosis is launched to structure this activity.
  • Pagamon carries out this diagnosis for this international car manufacturer and makes recommendations for governance and organization in the context of the development of embedded software and connected services.

PROJECT APPROACH

  • Interviews with key players (~20): hardware development, software and services, purchasing, marketing, quality…
  • Synthesis of the recommendations according to six areas of progress: technical management and QCD, functional architecture, software | system | vehicle development cycles, validation and end-to-end integration (E2E), connectivity roadmap, project platforms.
  • Construction and documentation of an action plan to cover all these areas.

RESULTS

  • Redefinition of technical governance by architecture layers: generic (service platform), organic (by family), specific (by vehicle).
  • Restructuring of project teams according to Agile principles: E2E development teams by service typology, component chapters and transverse processes, E2E and vehicle project technical synthesis teams…
  • Definition of key roles and sharing of responsibilities within the project teams.
  • Rationalization of the organization to improve the management of the workload, staffing and knowledge within the teams.
