Alignment and facilitation of governance for a Franco-Japanese co-development

PROJECT OUTLINE

  • The client wishes to develop a new industrial project involving French and Japanese employees. The local teams have different cultures, habits and working methods.
  • The client is looking for synergies between French and Japanese entities.
  • Within the framework of this Franco-Japanese automotive co-development project, Pagamon contributes to the definition of the decision-making process, task sharing and remote collaboration modes.

PROJECT APPROACH

  • Interviews with French and Japanese contacts for each of the project’s contributing professions.
  • Setting up and leading working groups on the critical business lines in order to define:
    • The location of development activities (France or Japan).
    • The orientations for the sharing of tasks by major activities, then piece by piece.
    • The agreement of the partners on the budget and resources.
  • Alignment of the French and Japanese project management on the governance and decision process.
  • Working seminars in France and Japan to validate the orientations and reinforce the team spirit.

RESULTS

  • A clear, quantified and contracted task sharing at the management level of both partners.
  • A unique decision-making process, allowing to take into account the requirements of both companies regarding the development and respecting the working methods of each.
  • A Franco-Japanese management aligned with the project objectives, making strategic decisions together.
  • A video-conference room permanently connecting the workspaces in France and in Japan, in order to allow fluid communication and to bring the teams together “virtually”.
